A Mid-Week Mood Board | Pretty as a Peacock

November 4th, 2009

I love peacock feathers. When I look at a peacock feather, it simply boggles my mind at the endless gorgeous color combinations that exist in one single lovely little thing. Just look at a few images below. My eyes get drunk with delight! Don’t yours?!

Being inspired by my love of peacock feathers, I’ve created a palette based around this theme. However, the combination I’ve made is a departure from the brilliant hues you often see used. In my palette, I’ve toned down some of the quintessential colors  you usually find in a peacock combinations – emerald, topaz, and amethyst.  I’ve also added two colors that you often don’t see – jadeite and bronze.

What transpires is a very fun and quirky color combination. It’s lively, yet earthy and warm. It’s rich without being stuffy. You get peacock colors that are inspired, yet are not a literal translation. I think it makes for a much more interesting and dynamic combination of unusual colors. I hope you all like it!
