It’s been a while since I’ve posted a mood board, so I thought I’d start out this week with this soft board. I was inspired by the photo of this lovely lady in Battenburg lace by New Zealand photographer Stephen Tilley. Enjoy!

There’s something about blue pattern on a white background that is so timeless, no matter what the season is. Lately, I’ve been seeing fashion & interior designers take inspiration from blue & white porcelain  patterns. Rodarte featured some stand out looks for their Spring 2011 collection that were inspired by Ming vases. They also enlisted the help of Nicholas Kirkwood to create a stunning sculptured platform shoe featuring their prints. Interior designers are also taking traditional Swedish blue & white patterns and blowing them up to larger than life proportions to feature onto upholstered chairs, pillows, and curtains.

Blue & white porcelain has been a time-honored color palette from China that created a foothold in European ceramic history. Even now in the 21st century, that same blue and white palette has continued to inspire designers in a multitude of other disciplines.

A sweet board for those with a sweet tooth.

Was inspired by that top photo of flirty layers of canteloupe-colored tulle. It’s a pretty color for the summer and works well with a bright green. Use some neutral tones to keep it soft and romantic.

Living in a city as large as LA and having to deal with traffic, even on weekends can take a toll on a person. Sometimes I think about what it would be like living on a farm with acres of land around me. The thought of fresh air and having my own garden where I can grow flowers and vegetables seems so appealing. I was inspired to create this board thinking about barn reds and apple greens.

The latest editorial from Fashion Gone Rogue made me remember how much I love cobalt blue. I usually love it paired with a vibrant red or a shocking pink, like this board I created inspired by Elsa Schiaperelli. But the soft background of this photo (upper left) paired with the vividness of the cobalt blue made me want to play with another scheme using aqua and a mint green. Add in some woodsy neutrals and you have a winning color palette. I’m loving this combination and I hope you do, too!

Happy 4th of July!

A red, white and blue nautical-themed board is always on order when the skies make way from grey to blue and the gentle waves beckon. Add a brilliant shade of sky blue and you’ll have a pretty color scheme that’s out of the ordinary.

Hope everyone is enjoying their long holiday and welcoming the official season of summer!
