Another photo I love. The black frames the sculptural lines of the model’s back, as well as the waves of her hair. The lace netting over her face adds to the mystery. An utterly ravishing photo.

Here is a gorgeous photo by the famous Patrick Demarchelier. The use of shadow to create texture and depth creates an arresting image. Also, what’s so genius about this photo is his use of off-center composition with the hat, juxtaposed with model Amber Valetta’s left eye as the center of the photo.

I love photography, especially black and white photography. I’ve not showcased it on my site before since my boards are very color driven. However, with that said, I want to be able to occasionally take a departure from color to talk about black & white photography and how well – primarily because of the lack of color – it can highlight things like texture, light, and shadow.
I recently came across a talented photographer by the name of Vivienne Mok. Her images are dreamily romantic, soft, feminine, and luscious. Her images are so inspiring, that I’ll be posting color boards based on her images all this week. Enjoy.
